Alliteration kitchen. It kind of rhymes. What is more important though is that it is true. When my friend, Whitney, was a god send and helped me find The Oasis there were some concerns about the kitchen’s size. No, excuse me, the European efficiency kitchen. Oh, sure, it’s European (IKEA cabinets) and efficient (I haven’t cooked much more than stove top macaroni and cheese, Trader Joe entrees and spaghetti)… But I’m still getting used to it. The nice thing though? It’s cheery (much more so than the old one) and I’m thankful to have a period to learn what truly is a kitchen essential. So I thought it was time to share some pics.

Seriously though, I love my new home and realize that there are a lot of people in this world who would appreciate having a kitchen with a stove and refrigerator. Thanks though for letting me indulge my first world problems…

Here’s the whole she-bang… And I didn’t even need to use a wide angle lens (they don’t make those for iPhones anyway):

The kitchen features two overhead cabinets, four drawers and two cupboards.

In addition to getting by without a microwave and coffee maker, I am also dishwasher-less. Here is where I spend most of my Saturday mornings (I kind of let things pile up during the week. I tell myself I’m saving water):

The famed, bamboo dishrack though, is going strong…

Thankfully, lots of my favorite things have still found a place in the tinier space. In fact, the move completely necessitated the purchase of a utensil crock which has been such a space saver. I just couldn’t validate purchasing one at The Homestead seeing how I had empty drawers. My oh my, how things have changed!

So, that’s the tiny kitchen tour. For those of you who have insane memories, I will post my crazy storage solution post soon. In the meanwhile, it’s time for me to dust off my carefully curated cookbook collection and reacquaint myself with the chef’s knife.
